We currently offer three models of handmade, solid cherry blanket chests. Each chest is signed and dated by the craftsman. It is then inspected and numbered and a certificate is issued. Only 500 blanket chests will be made in each style.
The outside dimensions of the Arden blanket chest are 44" long by 18" tall by 19" deep. This size lends itself well to many uses. The chest fits at the foot of any size bed to hold seasonal linens or special keepsakes. The height of the chest makes it a great place for sitting to put on your shoes or to read a good book. We use our blanket chest as a coffee table and have filled it with family photo albums. Our teenage daughters each have a blanket chest in their bedroom. They use them as traditional "hope chests" filling them with keepsakes for the future. The high quality materials and construction of our blanket chests insure that they will make excellent heirlooms to pass down from generation to generation. The high-grade, American Cherry retains it rich color that darkens as it ages. The bottom of the chest is made from aromatic cedar to naturally repel moths and keep them away from the linens inside the chest.
The dovetail joinery not only provides extra strength to the construction, but also gives the chest added beauty. The triple-triple dovetail design can be seen from the front and back of the hope chest.
The Berkeley is a smaller blanket chest or toy chest. It is approximately 30" long by 19 1/2" tall by 14" deep. The lid is 32" long by 16" deep. It looks perfect at the foot of a single bed our used as a smaller coffee table or under a window.
The Charleston is quite long but thin, measuring 46" long by 19 1/2" tall by 13" deep with a lid that is 48" by 15". This size is for narrow spaces such as foyers or hallways, mud rooms or along a wall in a bonus room. Anywhere you need handsome storage space.
All three of these blanket chest styles make great gifts that will be cherished for generations.
